Ashley DuBose is probably most widely known for her participation in Season 5 of NBC’s The Voice, but her musical journey began years before her world debut on the hit reality TV show.

Ashley began singing and writing music at the age of 10 years old. The desire to be a recording artist and performer grew from watching pop artists like Britney Spears, Destiny’s Child, and Aaliyah perform on television. Ashley’s first performance was in the sixth grade when she performed “Where My Girls At” by R&B trio 702 in her school’s talent show. Encouraged early on by her mother to sing for family, friends and strangers alike, Ashley would go on to perform at various national league sporting events, concerts, open mics, colleges, high schools, weddings, talent shows and corporate and non-profit galas.

In May 2012, Ashley released her independent debut album, Somethin’ More. The album was created while Ashley parented her two year old daughter and attended college full-time. Released just a day before graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics, Somethin’ More was a culmination of Ashley’s life experiences over the four years leading up to its creation – hope, discouragement,  love, betrayal, faith, and the desire to achieve what she believes is a greater calling on her life. The unplugged acoustic version of Somethin’ More was released in the following year, catering to the listeners that enjoy a more stripped down approach to the album’s originals.

In March of 2015, Ashley released her sophomore independent album, Be You. With 66,636 plays on Soundcloud to date, the common opinion among fans and industry professionals alike, is that Be You is what the music industry needs right now. Always a dreamer and determined woman, Ashley is working to spread her music to the masses and hoping to be considered for the upcoming Grammy Awards, confirming Cee-Lo Green’s 2013 prediction that he would be routing for Ashley “front row at the Grammys!”

Now that Be You has been released into the world, Ashley has been keeping busy with performances, (including recent regional tours with MN acts such as Toki Wright and Big Cats and Caroline Smith), speaking engagements, and curating and shooting music videos for her new music. Being the multi-talented and ambitious young woman that she is, Ashley is also an on-camera and voice actress, represented by a few of the top talent agencies in the Twin Cities. On top of all of this, Ashley DuBose is a proud mother to her five year old daughter who Ashley aims to show that when you dream and put your all into your dream, that dream can become reality. In early May 2015, Ashley finally left her day job as an application developer to follow her childhood dreams.

This summer, Ashley will be writing, recording, and touring around the country, with performances in the Twin Cities, South Carolina, Washington D.C., and New York. Stay tuned world!
